Cape Verde (Portuguese: Cabo Verde) is a nation-state made up of 10 islands, located in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of western Africa. Hip Hop from Cape Verde includes locally based emcees and those who now reside in Portugal, the Netherlands, and the United States. Emcees generally rap in Portuguese, Dutch, or creole combinations of Portuguese and West African languages.
